Across the Board

Founded in 1989 by Susan Curtis, The Santa Fe School of Cooking has become internationally acclaimed for bringing the flavors of the real American Southwest to a hungry world. Located just steps from Santa Fe's historic plaza, the school celebrates the culture and cuisine of New Mexico with a lighthearted approach and a flair for creativity.

The school's weekly recreational cooking classes have proved to be as entertaining as they are educational, and are especially popular with out-of-town vacationers. Over 70,000 people have come from all over the world to attend one of these classes or to enjoy one of the frequent special events the school produces. As a reminder of their experience, people can take home with them a video on preparing a traditional Santa Fe meal, and one or both of two cookbooks from Gibbs Smith, Publisher: Southwest Flavors, or The Santa Fe School of Cooking Cookbook.

For those who don't plan to be in Santa Fe any time soon, the school's website provides free recipes, and includes an online market offering everything from New Mexican dinnerware to gift baskets to music CDs.
